Position Overview

IES Communications is seeking a Lead Technician to provide field leadership and technical expertise on DAS-focused communications infrastructure projects. The Lead will serve as the on-site technical resource, overseeing installation crews, ensuring quality workmanship, and supporting project execution from installation through turnover.

The ideal candidate possesses hands-on experience with DAS deployments while also maintaining a broad understanding of structured cabling, fiber optic, and low-voltage systems commonly found within large commercial and mission-critical environments.

Responsibilities Lead daily field activities and direct a team of technicians and installers. Coordinate work assignments and ensure production goals are achieved. Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot communications infrastructure systems. Read and interpret construction drawings, floor plans, and project documentation. Support installation of DAS equipment, antennas, head-end systems, coaxial infrastructure, and fiber optic networks. Maintain quality standards and ensure compliance with project requirements. Track materials, tooling, and job-site needs. Serve as the primary escalation point for field installation issues. Assist with inspections, punch-list completion, testing, and commissioning activities. Promote and maintain a strong safety culture on every project.

Pay ranges from $28-$36/hr

Skills and Requirements

Requirements 4+ years of experience in low-voltage, structured cabling, fiber optic, telecommunications, wireless, or DAS environments. Previous experience leading small crews or acting as a crew lead. Experience with DAS installations and supporting infrastructure. Knowledge of fiber optic installation, testing, and troubleshooting. Ability to interpret blueprints and technical documentation. Strong communication and leadership skills. OSHA 10 preferred. Nice to Have Experience with CommScope, Corning, SOLiD, JMA, ADRF, or similar DAS platforms. BICSI certification. Fiber certifications (FOA, CFOT, etc.). Experience in hospitals, stadiums, airports, convention centers, data centers, or large commercial facilities.
