ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIESDemonstrates leadership in the area of safety. This requires observing andenforcing safety rules and practices, encouraging safe work behaviors, andpromptly correcting conditions and unsafe behavior, which may lead to accidents.Continually endorse the Quality & Food Safety Policies, assure conformance toall requirements of the Quality & Food Safety Management Systems, & takeaction to properly report failures of these systems to site management.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITYExecutes the production schedule for processing products to meet establishedproduct quality specifications and packaging requirements while ensuringcompliance to safety, environmental and regulatory policies. Coordinates andsupervises the activities of the operators and team leaders to maximizefermentation, centrifugation, blending, evaporation, filter press and liquid culturespackaging efficiencies with minimal equipment downtime.Trains new and existing team members on equipment operations, maintains andupdates operating procedures and working instructions. Must follow establishedprocedures and run set points in order to achieve QC approved products.
Job Description – Production Supervisor Assists the Production Manager in implementing and conceiving new initiativeswith the purpose of improving plant performance driven by, but not limited to KeyPerformance Indicators (KPIs) such as BOP, product cost/lb, throughput,downtime (% on-line), % shippable, % OTIF (On Time In Full), inventory levelsand safety indicators.

Key responsibilities
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may beassigned.A. Essential Functions1. Leads and coordinates employee element of assigned work group tomaximize efficiency. This includes activities such as hiring &termination of staff, corrective actions, annual review process,training, coaching, counseling, conflict resolution, and otherdisciplining of staff.2. Becomes expert in department(s) overseeing-- Fermentation, Drypackaging, Liquid Receiving & filtration & evaporation, Wet Blendoperations, Spray drying, and any other process streams byunderstanding & coordinating the equipment operation, procedures,SQF, HACCP, GMP, Safety, sanitation, preventative maintenanceprograms and personnel capabilities.3. Utilizes SAP and other software to perform transaction functions formaterials flow. Trains new and existing team members on theoperation of all PCs, software, relevant PLC interfaces andinstrumentation, the importance of following JAMs and workinginstructions and provides documentation of training.4. Empowers employees to effectively perform their tasksindependently at the expected level by ensuring that the necessaryknowledge, training and tools have been provided while developingtraining tools where needed.5. Will help the site implement new equipment, develop SOP’s andcomplete product qualification steps on new equipment.6. Assures that working instructions and process descriptions are up todate, accurate and accessible to all team members through the QSetmanual. Assures all procedures and instructions are adhered to inthe production process.7. Validates critical control point (CCP) instrumentation in thefermentation and cultures production process to ensure adherenceto established quality assurance, GMP and regulatory procedures.8. Participates in developing finite production schedules at weeklyscheduling meeting. Schedules and coordinates the daily activitiesof the operators to meet production processing and adherence toplan (ATP) requirements.Job Description – Production Supervisor Page 3 of 5Classified as General Business9. Reports all equipment and instrumentation malfunctions immediatelyfor repair and assists in trouble shooting and diagnosing problems toensure timely repair. Initiates maintenance work orders.10. Interacts with the Process Development project team to optimize theyields and processing parameters. Participates in processtroubleshooting and HACCP teams for continuous improvement ofexisting and new process equipment.11. Continually ensures and oversees the cleanliness, sanitation andappearance of the equipment, facility sanitation and housekeepingprocedures to ensure compliance with established internal programsand regulatory codes.12. Progresses facility initiatives to achieve continual improvement inseparating, sorting, scrubbing, standardizing and systematizing (5S).13. Maintains production tracking records, reports and spreadsheets toprovide information and data for monthly reporting of productionefficiency and monthly KPIs.14. Responsible for the scheduling of all production personnel.Approves vacation requests and arranges for coverage. Posts theschedule weekly for employees, and updates Kronos schedules andtime off requests daily. Approves time cards in Kronos weekly
Qualifications and skills
A. EDUCATION A four year degree preferred in engineering, food technology or business, or 5 years production supervision with demonstrated effective leadership and performance.
B. EXPERIENCE Minimum of 2 years experience in a dairy plant or related industry. Leadership experience is desirable. Familiarity with spray drying and powders processing highly desirable.
C. SKILLS Ability to understand functioning process equipment. Good communication, leadership planning and organizational skills are required. Influential track record in training. Must have good computer/IT skills; Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint experience required.

Noise factors Manufacturing Areas as Posted Vibration In some Manufacturing Areas Hazards Minimal Safety equipment Manufacturing Areas - Hardhats, Steel Toe Shoes, Hair Nets, and Safety Glasses Work surface Office-Carpet; Manufacturing-Concrete/Mezzanine Ability to climb mezzanine stairs to access process equipment and computer interface points, lift loads up to 50#, work in confined spaces, and enter freezer spaces with temperatures to -40°F. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs and frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally to stoop, kneel, or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. The position frequently requires the ability to hear and to communicate verbally.
