Full job description
Assists in conducting inspections for moderate level contracts such as roadway mowing, vegetation or tree removal, street sweeping, etc. where field measurements for payment are required. Assures that all work is performed in accordance with the departments' specification and special provisions as written. Inputs daily work reports in HMMS computer program and/or HMMS contract module. Compiles information to be let for contract. Performs guardrail inspections, culvert inspections and assist with day and nighttime road inspections. Assists office staff in the monitoring of the maintenance radio, answering maintenance office telephones and assisting customers. Assists roadway inspector in inspecting the condition of highways and bridges. Assists with permits when necessary or required due to the workload and/or staffing. Assists with emergency and inclement weather operations, may include being available for extended working hours or 12-hour shifts.A high school diploma and one (1) year of experience that is related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
The physical demands for the essential functions involves frequent bending, kneeling, stooping and lifting up to 50 lbs. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May require occasional exposure to noise. May require working outside of normal work schedules and weekends.A resume may be included but NOT substituted for completing the education, work experience, or any other sections of the application.
