Job Title: Facilities Manager

Job Description

The Facilities Manager oversees building operations, maintenance programs, vendor relationships, capital projects, and facility improvements for a growing manufacturing operation. This role serves as the primary point of contact for all facility-related services and ensures that buildings, equipment, utilities, and infrastructure remain safe, compliant, and fully operational. The Facilities Manager works in a hands-on capacity, leading maintenance and project activities while managing budgets, contractors, and continuous improvement initiatives to support operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily facility operations, including building services, repairs, and preventative maintenance activities.

  • Maintain building infrastructure, utility systems, and facility equipment to maximize uptime, reliability, and performance.

  • Use a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to manage work orders, maintenance schedules, and service requests.

  • Coordinate and respond to emergency repairs and critical facility issues as they arise.

  • Conduct routine facility inspections to identify and address maintenance concerns proactively.

  • Ensure all buildings and facilities remain clean, safe, functional, and compliant with applicable regulations and standards.

  • Manage relationships with external contractors, vendors, and service providers to support facility operations.

  • Evaluate vendor performance and ensure all work is completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.

  • Coordinate specialized services including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and other facility support contractors.

  • Support supplier selection, vendor reviews, and ongoing contract performance management.

  • Lead facility improvement projects focused on safety, efficiency, reliability, and cost reduction.

  • Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and contractor activities for facility-related projects.

  • Identify opportunities to improve facility performance while reducing operating expenses.

  • Support capital improvement initiatives and contribute to long-term facility planning.

  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all work is performed in alignment with company safety standards.

  • Ensure compliance with city, county, state, and federal regulations related to facilities and building operations.

  • Oversee preventative maintenance programs for HVAC, utility, fire protection, electrical, and mechanical systems.

  • Maintain facility readiness for audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.

  • Support environmental, health, and safety initiatives throughout the site.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and site leadership to align facility operations with production and operational needs.

  • Prioritize multiple projects and maintenance activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Walk facilities regularly, inspect equipment, and verify that maintenance and project work meets quality and safety expectations.

  • Respond to after-hours or weekend facility issues as needed to minimize operational disruptions.

Essential Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • 5+ years of facilities management experience in manufacturing, industrial, distribution, or large commercial environments.

  • Strong knowledge of facility systems, including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, fire protection, utility, and building automation systems.

  • Proven experience managing facility projects, budgets, contractors, and maintenance programs.

  • Familiarity with CMMS platforms and preventive maintenance systems.

  • Strong understanding of vendor management and contractor oversight.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and maintenance management software.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and site leadership.

  • Ability to lift up to 55 pounds.

  • Ability to walk facilities, climb stairs, and inspect equipment throughout the site.

  • Ability to work in office, manufacturing, and outdoor environments.

  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or respond to emergency facility situations when required.

  • Strong attendance and reliability.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree or higher preferred.

  • Manufacturing or industrial facility experience.

  • Knowledge of building management systems (BMS).

  • Experience supporting utility infrastructure, including compressed air, HVAC, and critical facility equipment.

  • Project management and capital improvement experience.

  • Experience driving continuous improvement and operational efficiency initiatives.

  • Background in operations management, production, supervision, or production management is beneficial.

  • Experience in roles such as Maintenance Manager, Plant Facilities Manager, Building Operations Manager, Facilities & Maintenance Manager, Facilities Supervisor, Facilities Project Manager, Industrial Facilities Manager, Property & Facilities Manager, or Site Services Manager is advantageous.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing environment that includes a mix of office, production, and outdoor settings. The Facilities Manager regularly moves throughout the facility, walks production areas, climbs stairs, and inspects equipment and building systems. The position follows a day-shift schedule of approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with flexibility to work overtime or weekends when necessary to support operations or respond to emergencies. The work involves close interaction with maintenance teams, production staff, contractors, and vendors, and requires comfort working around industrial equipment, utilities, and building systems in an active manufacturing facility.

This is a Permanent position based out of Fairfield, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $105000.00 - $131000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
