The Career Transition Specialist (CTS) provides students with individualized transitional support and placement services to help them successfully move into full-time employment in their field after completing Job Corps.

The CTS Specialist works closely with Career Technical Training (CTT), Career Transition, and other Center staff to identify and address students’ transition barriers, develop individualized transition plans, and connect students with meaningful career opportunities. This position also builds relationships with employers, businesses, and community organizations to develop quality employment and training opportunities for students.

Responsibilities

  • Provides individualized career counseling, transition support, and placement services to assigned students.

  • Supports students in achieving their educational, career, and placement goals.

  • Establishes supportive and mentoring relationships with students throughout the Career Transition Phase.

  • Develops, monitors, and updates individualized student transition plans to support successful outcomes.

  • Identifies and assists students in overcoming barriers to employment, higher education, or advanced training.

  • Provides guidance and resources related to job searching, interviewing, resumes, applications, workplace expectations, and career planning.

  • Develops and maintains relationships with businesses, employers, workforce organizations, and community partners to create quality, industry-relevant opportunities for students.

  • Conducts community job development activities and engages with key business and community leaders.

  • Works collaboratively with CTT, Career Transition, and other Center departments to ensure students receive comprehensive and individualized support.

  • Supports the Center in meeting or exceeding DOL and Company performance goals.

  • Follows all integrity guidelines and procedures and ensures the accuracy and integrity of student data.

  • Maintains accurate, timely, and complete documentation related to student transition and placement activities.

  • Provides high-quality programs and services that meet student needs and continuously seeks opportunities for improvement.

  • Mentors, monitors, and models the Career Success Standards in accordance with the PRH.

  • Provides appropriate supervision and guidance to students, promotes positive behavior, and holds students accountable for their actions and responsibilities.

  • Communicates clearly and professionally with students, staff, employers, community partners, and DOL/Company representatives.

  • Identifies problems, evaluates appropriate solutions, follows through on corrective actions, and ensures issues are resolved in a timely manner.

  • Maintains appropriate attendance, accountability, productivity, and professional standards.

  • Plans, prioritizes, and organizes assignments to meet established goals and deadlines.

  • Maintains the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively perform job responsibilities.

  • Accepts direction and supervision from the Center Director, Center Duty Officer, or Shift Manager, including assignments to temporarily perform responsibilities of other departments or positions.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Human Services, Psychology, Counseling, Education, Social Science, Business, Communications, or a closely related field; OR

  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the above fields and two years of related experience.

  • Valid in-state Driver's License.

  • Must meet Company insurability requirements.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with young adults from diverse backgrounds.

  • Ability to establish professional relationships with students, employers, community organizations, and staff.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect the integrity of student information and records.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in career counseling, workforce development, job placement, case management, human services, education, or a related field.

  • Experience working with young adults or individuals facing barriers to employment.

  • Experience developing employer, business, or community partnerships.

  • Knowledge of employment services, career development, higher education, or workforce training programs.

  • Experience with resume development, interviewing skills, job searches, and employment preparation.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other computer applications.
