Full job description
RESPONSIBILITIES
I. JOB SUMMARY:

Assists the Clinical Pharmacist in the processing and filling of prescriptions and medication/medical supply orders.
-
Reviews and enters orders and patient information into the pharmacy computer system.
-
Processes and assists in the maintenance of pharmacy inventory.
-
Provides customers/patients with information about medications, health insurance, and other health care related services.
-
Files third-party insurance claims on paper and electronically.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
A. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

C. NON-MANUAL MATERIAL HANDLING:

Occasional: Sit. Stoop/Bend. Kneel. Twist. Crawl. Squat.

III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.

Exposure to noise/vibration from office/pharmacy equipment.

Exposure to body fluids, chemicals and contact with patients with communicable diseases. Works on multiple tasks at the same time.

May be required to work with hazardous drugs, depending upon area of assignment.
-
Work environment is fast paced, crowded and may be stressful.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
B. CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
-
Current Hawaii State certificate of registration as a Pharmacy Technician.
-
Completion of pharmacy technical program or on-the-job education/pharmacy work experience preferred.
C. EXPERIENCE:
-
One (1) year work experience, preferably as pharmacy technician/clerk.
-
Ability to effectively communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
-
Ability to use a computer, type, operate calculator.
-
Ability to convert easily among fractions, decimals, percentages, and mixed numbers.
