Job Description

Lead Data Scientist (The Prudential Insurance Company of America, Newark, NJ)

Identify, source, transform, and join public, proprietary and internal data sources. Develop and maintain consultative relationships with key business stakeholders. Model large structured and unstructured data sources (e.g. financial transactional, time-series, text, speech/audio and image). Implement advanced statistical methods for prediction and optimization including a wide variety of machine learning technologies (regression, decision trees/forests, boosted models, clustering, LSTMs, etc.) for purposes including explorative analysis, survival analysis, segmentation, prediction and recommendation systems. Perform analysis and implement solutions that maximize business impact. Prepare and present written and verbal reports to key stakeholders. Execute all aspects of an advanced analytical project under guidance.

Telecommuting permitted up to 100%. Candidate may work and reside anywhere in the U.S.

Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week, $167,600.00 per year. Benefits incl. medical, dental, PTO & more.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Data Analytics, or a related quantitative field, and 2 years of related work experience. Alternatively, the employer will accept a PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Data Analytics, or a related quantitative field, and 1 year of related work experience.

Must have 1 year of experience in each of the following:

  • Developing advanced quantitative, analytical, and statistical solutions;

  • Applying statistical machine learning techniques and Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques: logit, regression, random forests, boosted machines, clustering, Natural Language Processing,

large scale models, deep learning, optimization, convolution neural networks, and customer lifetime value;

  • Spanning analysis of real-world problems involving structured and unstructured data;

  • Utilizing tools and programming languages for statistical modeling of large data sets: SQL, AWS SageMaker, and Python;

  • Productionizing models in the cloud environment: AWS or Microsoft Azure;

  • Applying the principles of Mutithreading, data structures, and algorithms;

  • Software engineering experience in Java, Python, or Scala languages;

  • Data Visualization techniques including Tableau;

  • Big Data manipulation using SPARK, Distributed systems.

Domestic travel required up to 10%.
