EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN (PARAMEDIC/MVO)

Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as a U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM) Paramedic in the Army Emergency Medical Service supporting an Army or joint base military installation. Paramedics perform both basic and advanced fife support emergency medical treatment to provide the most extensive pre-hospital care. Responsibilities Responds to the site of accidents or other emergencies involving injury, illness, or potential environmental risks. Airway Obstructions and Respiratory Arrest: Identifies, treats, communicates, and documents airway obstructions and respiratory arrest. Controls external bleeding with various treatment protocols. Performs advanced assessment and treatment of the pediatric patient to include infant and neonatal resuscitation. Performs light extrication utilizing a variety of light rescue tools and equipment to safely remove patients from accident locations. Considers pharmacological intervention for pain control in all situations. Responsible for implementing procedures for hazardous materials during the course of the duties which include biological, chemical, or radiological agents used by or maintained by the military or by rogue agents against the population. Performs routine Operator safety checks and inventories all supplies and equipment. Provides regular and recurring training classes based on course lesson plans via classroom instruction for both medical and non­medical personnel (both military and civilian) assigned to the installation. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience 1) evaluating medical emergencies to provide advanced life support care, 2) conducting examinations in an emergency setting and interpretating vital signs, 3) performing advanced airway care, 4) administering emergency medicine techniques such as CPR/First Aid, Basic and Advanced Life Support, AND 5) operating an emergency vehicle. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
