We are seeking an independent and highly motivated bench Scientist to join our Ophthalmology group, supporting the development of therapeutics for ocular and autoimmune diseases. In this role, you will engage in innovative research as part of our discovery efforts, developing new in vitro assays and models to elucidate pathways involved in ocular autoimmunity and evaluating therapeutic candidates, while collaborating closely with teams across the organization.

  • Location: Tarrytown, NY

  • Work model/flexibility: Onsite

Discover your role:

  • Design, plan, and perform in vitro and in vivo studies using cell lines and mouse models to investigate, validate, and screen therapeutic targets

  • Run ELISA/MSD/Luminex, RT-PCR, and flow cytometry using mouse/human serum and tissue

  • Isolate tissues and cells from mouse and human samples for further functional and phenotypic characterization

  • Design and/or execute in vitro cell-based functional assays using primary or engineered cells

  • Work with mice, including antibody dosing through various routes, interim bleeds, and tissue collection/processing

  • Develop new methods or technologies to troubleshoot experiments

  • Analyze data and communicate findings to peers and management at group and cross-functional meetings

  • Write protocols and study reports, maintaining accurate electronic records

This role requires:

  • BS/MS degree in Biology, Cell Biology, Immunology, or a related field, with 4-5 years of experience working in a laboratory setting

  • Strong knowledge of molecular and cellular biology

  • Experience with tissue culture (maintenance of transformed and primary cells), in vitro and ex vivo cell-based assays, and multicolor flow cytometry

  • Experience with in vitro modification of cell lines and primary mouse and human cells

  • Training in proper handling and care of mice, and collection of blood and tissue samples

  • Preferred: expertise in immunology or ophthalmology

  • Preferred: experience with mouse models of inflammatory/autoimmune diseases
