Job Description Serves as departmental risk reduction liaison to community organizations, business groups, the media and other agencies. Prepares and delivers a variety of fire safety presentations using lesson plans, program presentations, audio and visual teaching aides/props and resources.
Essential Duties• Research educational programs and materials to enhance the current program and services.
- Assists with writing, designing and distributing program presentation materials and resources.
- Conducts home safety surveys, car seat checks and installations.
- Smoke alarm and CO alarm checks and installations, conducts site visits for target occupancies, instructs fire and life safety training, and educational presentations.
- Provides basic customer assistance by explaining services and answering questions and concerns, tours, and processes requests for programs.
Public Speaking Duties• This job class requires public speaking to conduct program presentations, table displays, attending meetings, and engaging with residents during community events.
- Participates in staff meetings, in-service training sessions, and giving reports when requested during department/public meetings
Other Job Requirements/Information
- This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.
- This job is a civilian position in either a public safety department or in Information Technology with close ties to public safety. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, a public safety background which may include motor vehicle & criminal histories, and fingerprinting.
Grade The grade for this position is B21(2).
Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
Minimum Qualifications• High School Diploma or G.E.D.; AND
- One year of specialized training in education or related field and two years of customer service, communications, teaching or related experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications
- CPR Certified
