Educational Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Santa Ana, CA

Location: Santa Ana, CA

Position: Educational Sign Language Interpreter (ASL)

Schedule: 35 Hours per Week

Contract: 2026-2027 School Year

Interview Required: Yes

Position Overview

We're seeking a dedicated Educational Sign Language Interpreter to support a high school student in a one-on-one educational setting. In this role, you will facilitate communication between a deaf or hard-of-hearing student and school staff, helping ensure full access to instruction, classroom activities, and daily interactions.

This is a rewarding opportunity for an interpreter who is passionate about accessibility, education, and empowering student success.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa

  • Support communication during classroom instruction, school activities, and discussions

  • Provide one-on-one interpretation services for a high school student

  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to support student learning

  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in accordance with educational standards

  • Help create an inclusive and accessible learning environment

Minimum Requirements:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language

  • Associates degree or Bachelors degree in interpreting, deaf studies or related field, preferred

  • State Board of Education Initial Sign Language Interpreter Certificate (as applicable)

  • Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) certificate (as applicable per state regulation or client requirement)

  • Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification ( as applicable per state regulation or client requirement)

  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

  • Current CPR if applicable

  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
