DSHS ESH Office Assistant 3

Are you passionate about making a difference in people’s lives? The Behavioral Health & Habilitation Administration (BHHA) at DSHS is looking for dedicated and enthusiastic Office Assistant to join our team in Medical Lake, WA at Eastern State Hospital (ESH).

Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.

The work schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 7:30AM-4:00PM.

Some of what you'll do:

  • Perform clerical and administrative services on the ward.
  • Complete paperwork for patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  • Print daily forms necessary for the treatment team.
  • Greet patients, visitors, staff, and outside care providers.
  • Route phone calls to the appropriate staff.
  • Organize and maintain files.
  • Operate office equipment.
  • Maintain and update patient photographs.
  • Ensure patient wristbands are printed, up to date, and in place.
  • Process updated treatment plans as needed
  • Attend to off-ward duties such as patient accounts, mail, etc.

What we're looking for:

  • Demonstrates the principles of universal precautions and infection control practices.
  • Ability to work with difficult or angry patients in an approved therapeutic, non-threatening manner.
  • Ability to work as a team member and resolve personal conflicts in a calm, non-threatening manner.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with management, peers, patients, and the public.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite.

  • Professionals with a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of clerical experience.
