Job Title: Speech Language PathologistAgency: Department of Education Job Requisition ID: JR0000006048Shift: Not Applicable (United States of America)Compensation Details: COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE Job Description: The Georgia Department of Education is hiring a Speech Language Pathologist for the Georgia School for the Deaf located in Cave Spring, Georgia. The Speech-Language Pathologist assesses and treats individuals with hearing, speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders. This position may provide auditory training, fit hearing aids, and select alternative communication systems while teaching individuals how to use them effectively. The Speech Language Pathologist collaborates with students, educators, and other professionals to support communication development and educational success and may serve as a lead worker as assigned.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assess and treat individuals with hearing, speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders.
  • Conduct screenings, evaluations, and diagnostic assessments to determine communication needs.
  • Fit hearing aids and provide auditory training, as appropriate.
  • Select alternative and augmentative communication systems and instruct individuals in their use.
  • Monitor, document, and report client or student progress.
  • Participate in meetings, training, and professional development activities as required.
  • Maintain records and documentation in compliance with applicable policies and regulations.
  • May serve as a lead worker and provide guidance to assigned staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Experience working in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of special education programs and services.
  • Experience serving children and youth with communication disorders.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with students and multidisciplinary teams.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in speech-language pathology or audiology, or both, from an accredited college or university and current Georgia licensure and/or certification to practice in the area of assignment; one (1) year of experience at the lower level Aud/Speech Pathologist 1 (HCP010) or position equivalent.
