Job Title: Educator Development SpecialistAgency: Department of Education Job Requisition ID: JR0000005399Shift: Not Applicable (United States of America)Compensation Details: COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE Job Description: The Georgia Department of Education is hiring for an Educator Development Specialist that will lead state and district-level initiatives to enhance teacher recruitment, retention, and continuous growth. This role integrates instructional design and educational technology to construct and scale competency-based learning models, high-impact performance tools, and integrated professional development frameworks. Working across regional and state networks, the Specialist partners with administrators, school leaders, and key stakeholders to deliver data-driven, sustainable educator development pathways. This is a remote field position requiring travel within assigned regions.

Job Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and implement scalable, technology-enhanced professional learning solutions aligned with adult learning theory and state standards.
• Deliver targeted technical assistance, coaching, and workshops to help school systems deploy effective instructional practices.
• Evaluate emerging instructional technologies and evidence-based practices to modernize educator training and performance evaluation tools.
• Leverage educational technology platforms, learning management systems (LMS), and interactive media to deliver engaging, accessible, and hybrid professional development programs.
• Collaborates with district/school staff to provide job-embedded support for educators through observations, lesson studies, and peer observation
• Provides individual and team consultation to adapt professional development so it meaningfully addresses educator learning needs
• Evaluates program efficacy and utilizes pertinent data to propose local changes in methods and objectives
• Promotes collegial culture by fostering an environment of service, trust, and respect

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree from a Professional Standards Commission-approved accredited college or university

• Possesses experience modeling effective teacher behavior to adult learners in a variety of instructional settings

• Knowledge of recruitment and retention initiatives, including strategies for attracting and retaining educators.

• Experience speaking and leading presentations to large groups

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma/GED and seven (7) years of program management experience; or two (2) years of experience required at the lower level Education Prgm Spec 3 (EDP032) or position equivalent.
