The Global Market Principal - Science & Technology is responsible for accelerating global market growth by defining strategy, enabling regional execution, shaping strategic pursuits and strengthening Jacobs’ differentiated capabilities.

This role will lead the development of future-ready environments for scientific discovery, higher education, research and innovation. Key markets include multidisciplinary research buildings, university science and engineering facilities, collaborative laboratories, computational and digital research centers, innovation hubs, startup incubators, commercialization facilities, science parks and research-led innovation districts.

The successful candidate will connect regional opportunities with Jacobs’ global capabilities, helping clients translate discovery into impact through adaptable, sustainable and technology-enabled environments that integrate research, education, collaboration, incubation, prototyping and commercialization.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Global Science & Technology Market Strategy

  • Define and implement the global Science & Technology growth strategy in alignment with Jacobs’ long-term objectives.

  • Establish scalable market plays across higher education research, interdisciplinary science, research laboratories, computational science, quantum research, innovation ecosystems and emerging technologies.

  • Translate global priorities into regionally relevant growth plans reflecting funding, investment, regulatory and market conditions.

  • Partner with regional leadership to prioritize investments based on market opportunity, strategic fit, competitive position, margin potential and enterprise adjacency.

  • Monitor research funding, scientific advances, technology trends and evolving client requirements to inform market strategy.

Regional Growth Enablement

  • Support regional leadership in developing market credibility, qualified pipeline and pursuit discipline.

  • Connect regional opportunities with Jacobs’ global expertise, experience and delivery capabilities.

  • Develop repeatable tools, market intelligence and pursuit strategies that accelerate growth, manage risk and improve performance.

  • Facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing across regions and technical disciplines.

  • Help identify capability gaps and prioritize targeted recruitment, development and partnerships.

Strategic Pursuits and Client Development

  • Lead or support priority pursuits where client relationships, innovation and technical differentiation are critical to success.

  • Build executive-level relationships with universities, research institutions, government agencies, technology organizations, investors and industry partners.

  • Position Jacobs as a trusted partner across the project lifecycle, from strategy and planning through design, delivery, commissioning and optimization.

  • Develop differentiated value propositions focused on research productivity, innovation, resilience, sustainability, digital transformation and lifecycle value.

  • Partner with sales, account and regional growth teams to improve pipeline quality and strategic win rates.

Technical Leadership and Capability Building

  • Advance technical excellence, best practices and thought leadership across the global Science & Technology market.

  • Guide the development of flexible, human-centered and technology-enabled research environments.

  • Promote the integration of artificial intelligence, automation, advanced analytics, smart-building technologies and sustainable design.

  • Strengthen connectivity across planning, architecture, engineering, digital and program-delivery capabilities.

  • Help attract, develop and connect Science & Technology talent across Jacobs.

Enterprise Integration

  • Collaborate with Advanced Facilities, Energy & Power and other complementary Jacobs markets.

  • Coordinate cross-market opportunities to establish clear ownership and integrated pursuit and delivery strategies.

  • Leverage Jacobs’ advisory, planning, design, engineering, digital, program management and delivery capabilities.

  • Identify opportunities where Science & Technology investments create broader enterprise value.

  • Support annual business planning, investment priorities and market-performance reporting.

Global Leadership and Collaboration

  • Lead cross-functional and cross-border collaboration among market, sales, technical and operational teams.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on market trends, innovation ecosystems, investments and growth opportunities.

  • Represent Jacobs at client forums, industry events, research conferences and thought-leadership engagements.

  • Mentor and develop market leaders, client account managers, technical experts and future Science & Technology leaders.

  • Champion Jacobs’ Culture of Caring and Together Beyond culture of belonging.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architecture, engineering, science or a related discipline.

  • Significant experience supporting Science & Technology clients, higher education institutions, research facilities, laboratory environments or complex capital programs.

  • Demonstrated success in market growth, client development and strategic pursuits.

  • Strong understanding of research environments, laboratory planning and design, innovation ecosystems and emerging technology trends.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain executive-level client and partner relationships.

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams across geographies and organizational boundaries.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.

  • Ability to travel globally as required.

  • Strong understanding of the future of research and innovation, including higher education, interdisciplinary science, academic-industry partnerships, commercialization and technology-enabled research environments.

  • Proven track record of developing global market strategies and scaling capabilities across regions.
