Description Join one of the fastest growing and most innovative areas of US Retail Markets (USRM) in Agency Distribution Solutions (ADS). As we grow and scale the Comparion and Liberty Mutual Insurance (Direct Choice) Agencies, we are constantly solving new problems, building foundational capabilities, and driving new initiatives to grow our agencies to new heights. With a culture like that of a startup, you'll be pushed and given the autonomy to develop creative solutions and generate compelling insights.

The Agency Insights team is looking to hire a Director, I (STP), Advanced Analytics, supporting Comparion’s Agency Carrier Partnerships team. This individual is responsible for evaluating the economics of our 50+ carrier profit-sharing agreements and carrier incentive programs and building the analytical foundation that informs whether and how we pursue carrier incentives across both Comparion Insurance Agency (CIA) and Liberty Mutual Insurance Agency (LMIA). This individual will build economic models grounded in contract terms and production data, translate national, regional and state-level performance differences into clear strategic guidance, and make recommendations on whether specific carrier incentives (including contests, profit share agreements, short-term bonuses, among others) should be accepted or declined. This role also serves as the primary analytical partner to the Carrier Partnerships team for their ongoing day-to-day needs, and partners closely with the Channel Insights team's modeling work to ensure recommendations are grounded in a consistent, agency-wide view of policy and carrier value.

This individual must be comfortable exercising independent judgment in complex analysis and building structured economic models from contract inputs and production data and using them to form and defend a strategic point of view. This individual will collaborate with internal stakeholders and partners across departments, present findings, and utilize the power of data to help inform the future direction of carrier strategy. This individual is also highly effective at managing multiple workstreams at a time, including prioritizing efforts across multiple stakeholders and carrier relationships. This role will receive shared analyst support from the Channel Insights team as needed and is expected to provide direction and feedback on that shared work.

Responsibilities

  • Leads profit-sharing analysis across CIA's 50+ carrier agreements, evaluating performance against agreement terms and identifying the drivers of variance.
  • Builds economic models based on carrier contract terms and production inputs to quantify the value of existing and prospective carrier incentives.
  • Develops and delivers clear, data-driven recommendations on whether to accept or decline specific carrier incentive offers, including the tradeoffs and risks involved.
  • Analyzes regional and policy-level profitability differences (e.g., by state, book segment) to inform strategy and guidance given to regional leaders and agents.
  • Serves as the go-to analytical resource for the Carrier Partnerships team's regular, ongoing analytical requests and needs.
  • Partners with the Agency Carrier Partnerships team to build the analytical case for or against specific carrier decisions, ensuring local and regional resources have vetted guidance.
  • Generates carrier and channel program insights and recommendations by synthesizing data from diverse sources and using advanced analytical techniques; includes actively using emerging AI tools/capabilities to drive analytical work.
  • Presents findings and recommendations to senior leadership which impact profitability, growth, and/or agent satisfaction.
  • Prioritizes work initiatives across multiple stakeholders and carrier relationships while ensuring analytical connectivity with Channel Insights.
  • Continually assesses the business value and efficiency of the work performed, making suggestions for improvements and collaborating with others in implementing them.
  • Directs and provides feedback on shared analyst support from Channel Insights as needed for carrier partnership work.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or another quantitative field plus a minimum of 7 years, typically 10 or more years, of applied business / non-academic experience, or equivalent
  • Proven track record of applying advanced analytics to improve business results and resolve business problems
  • Expert knowledge of data sources, tools and business drivers
  • Possesses ability to articulate what limits are to certain tools (eg. SAS) or methodologies
  • Expert ability in Excel, PowerPoint, and statistical software packages (SAS, Emblem)
  • Must have exceptional planning, analytical, decision-making, communication and project management skills
