Job Title: Electrical EngineerJob Description
The Electrical Engineer independently designs, documents, and executes medium- and low-voltage (MV/LV) switchgear and power distribution projects. This role is responsible for interpreting customer specifications, developing detailed design deliverables, coordinating closely with engineering and manufacturing teams, and ensuring quality and accuracy from order release through production support. The Electrical Engineer plays a key role in creating safe, reliable, and standards-compliant electrical systems and delivering complete design packages for manufacturing and construction.
Responsibilities
-
Independently design and review electrical systems, including one-line, three-line, and control schematics for MV/LV applications.
-
Design power and control systems for MV/LV switchgear, metal-clad and metal-enclosed gear, and Power Distribution Centers (PDC).
-
Prepare and review electrical deliverables such as submittal drawings, construction drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and nameplates to ensure completeness and accuracy.
-
Perform AC and DC load calculations for control power transformers (CPTs) and battery backup systems to ensure proper sizing and reliability.
-
Ensure all designs comply with applicable industry standards, including UL, IEEE, and NEC, as well as internal company specifications.
-
Analyze customer specifications against the quoted scope and BOM to identify gaps, inconsistencies, or potential issues and recommend solutions.
-
Participate in internal design review meetings to confirm design readiness for manufacturing and to address technical questions or concerns.
-
Manage Engineering Changes (ECs), redlines, and documentation updates to support timely and accurate project release to production.
-
Prepare and review submittal and construction packages, verifying that all documentation is complete, accurate, and aligned with customer and regulatory requirements.
-
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing and project coordination, to resolve technical issues and support smooth project execution.
-
Take ownership of assigned projects and tasks, maintaining accountability for design quality, schedule adherence, and effective communication.
Essential Skills
-
Strong ability to interpret and develop electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and three-line diagrams for power distribution and control systems.
-
Proficiency in electrical CAD software, with the capability to produce complete and accurate design packages for manufacturing and construction.
-
Working knowledge of protection relays, utility metering, Modbus communications, and circuit monitoring systems.
-
Experience with electrical schematics and one-line diagrams for MV/LV switchgear and related equipment.
-
Understanding of industry standards such as UL, IEEE, and NEC and the ability to apply these standards in practical design work.
-
Demonstrated problem-solving ability in technical matters and project coordination, including the identification and resolution of design and specification issues.
-
Ability to manage engineering documentation, including Engineering Changes (ECs), redlines, and drawing updates, with strong attention to detail.
-
Capability to perform AC/DC load calculations for control power transformers and battery backup systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
-
Experience with SolidWorks Electrical or similar electro-mechanical design tools.
-
Familiarity with metal-clad and metal-enclosed gear and Power Distribution Centers (PDC).
-
Comfort working with protection relay configurations, utility metering systems, and circuit monitoring solutions.
-
Proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for assigned work.
-
Effective communication skills for collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams.
