Summary

About the Position: This is a temporary military technician position with the 88th Readiness Division, AMSA 56, located in Whitehall, Ohio. This position requires an active membership as a Soldier in the Army Reserve before a start date can be set. Duties

  • Review work in progress and completion in order to maintain production reports and records.
  • Determine equipment, supplies, and maintenance required for each task as to not delay work.
  • Compile weekly/monthly work schedules based on deadlines and priorities of the shop.
  • Monitor the progress of assignments in order for the shop to stay on schedule.
  • Identify employee training needs within the shop in order to correct deficiencies in work.
  • Analyze issues with the repair or maintenance of equipment in order to recommend solutions.
  • Instruct in new procedures to keep employees abreast to current policies and methods.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer Supervisor without more than normal supervision. Ability to Lead or Supervise. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: establishing deadlines and priorities; passing on instructions, and assigning tasks to be performed by subordinates; reviewing work and ensuring shop policies and procedures are being followed; identifying training needs within the shop; and maintaining production report and records. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, and abilities) in the following areas: Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability To Lead or Supervise Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Trouble Shooting Use of Measuring Instruments Physical Effort Required: You may be required to work in tiring and uncomfortable positions for extended periods of time. You will frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds and push/pull/turn heavy parts or equipment. Working Conditions: Work may be performed inside or outside. When outside, subject to variable weather conditions. When inside, subject to drafts, dirt, grease and fumes. Subject to burns, scrapes, cuts, bruises, shocks and strains while performing work.

Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a Material Maintenance Management position Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. One year supervisory probationary period may be required. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. Position may be filled as a Temporary Appointment NTE 2 Years. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three (3) years. Position may be converted to Permanent without further competition. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a temporary appointment will be appointed/converted into a Temporary appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position. Army employees who accept a time-limited appointments (to include employees with personal competitive status) will be separated at the end of the time-limited appointment date if the Not-to-Exceed (NTE) date is not extended. As a supervisor, you must comply with the Army Civilian Education System (CES) course and timeline requirements. The Supervisory Development Course (SDC) must be completed within one year of placement into a supervisory position.
