Full job description

POSITION SUMMARY The Payroll Specialist supports the mission of providing quality healthcare to the patients of WhidbeyHealth Medical Center and Clinics by completing timely and accurate accounts payable, general accounting and payroll processing tasks in support of the organization’s financial operations. The Payroll Specialist may be responsible for timely processing of bi-weekly payroll using an electronic payroll system, performing month end and year end procedures including balance sheet account reconciliations, statistical compilation and analysis, cost report record keeping and regulatory compliance. The Payroll Specialist acts as the primary point of contact for employees and managers with questions regarding Payroll and Accounting processes and procedures and may be asked to complete additional tasks as needed to support department functions. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Associate’s degree in Business, Accounting or Finance preferred. Five (5) years of experience and knowledge of accounting general ledger including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliation with previous experience processing complex payroll. Prior experience in a healthcare related setting strongly preferred.
