Job Description

Our healthcare client is seeking a Project Manager to provide leadership and oversight of design and construction activities for a portfolio of small, medium, and large-scale seismic upgrade projects within a California Market. The Project Manager is accountable for managing project objectives, scheduling, budget management, cash flow forecasting, and proactive resolution of project risks and contingencies. This position is a critical interface between this team, leadership, Hospital leadership, and stakeholders, ensuring seamless capital project coordination, communication and delivery. The ultimate goal is to ensure the projects are completed on schedule, within budget and with as little impact to hospital operations.

Pay range is $70 - 80/HR depending on experience.

Skills and Requirements

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or a closely related field. Equivalent experience (5+ years) in healthcare construction project management will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience in project management of construction projects and experience in healthcare capital projects within California.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and hands-on experience with project construction budgets, financial controls, and reporting.
  • Proven experience in successful project delivery of healthcare capital projects, including hospital renovations, expansions, or new construction.

Required Licensure and Certifications:

  • NA (though relevant certifications are valued) Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Training:

  • Ability to work with a project team and stakeholders to deliver construction projects within an operating hospital.

  • Ability to facilitate project design and construction related meetings and presentations with diverse stakeholder groups, including Hospital leadership.

  • Knowledge of various project delivery methods (e.g., Design-Build, Design-Bid-Build, CM at-Risk) and their application in healthcare.

  • Ability to develop conceptual project scope, schedules (critical path methodology), and budgets for capital projects.

  • Understanding of construction processes, sequencing, and building codes relevant to acute care facilities in California.

  • Knowledge of California's healthcare regulatory landscape, specifically OSHPD/HCAI requirements, submission processes, inspection protocols, and interaction with plan reviewers and field representatives.

  • Negotiation skills and conflict resolution abilities.

  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a geographically dispersed team.

Required Special Skills (Software Competency):

  • Google Office Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides, Gmail, Calendar)

  • Microsoft Project, Oracle Primavera P6, or equivalent advanced project scheduling software.

  • Microsoft Excel (budgeting, forecasting, and data analysis).

  • Blue Beam Revu (drawing review, markups, and quantity takeoffs).

  • Adobe Pro (or similar PDF management software).

  • Experience with construction management information systems (e.g., e-Builder, Projecto, Procore) is desirable.

  • Travel and On-Site Presence:

  • Requires regular travel, including potentially overnight stays, to the assigned hospital sites in California. This role necessitates a strong on-site presence at project locations during critical phases of design, construction, and closeout.

  • Must be able to maintain productivity and effective collaboration while working remotely and from various hospital locations. Preferred Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of health facility pre-construction services, planning, feasibility studies, and cost estimating.

  • Experience with medical equipment planning processes and their integration into overall project delivery.

  • Knowledge of problem-solving methodologies, risk analysis, and contingency planning strategies, with the capability to communicate these to leadership teams.

  • Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or similar relevant professional designation.
