Overview

Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM + every other weekend (rotating days during the week)

Make a difference when patients need it most. As an Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech), you’ll be an essential member of our fast-paced care team, working alongside Registered Nurses and physicians to help provide safe, compassionate, and efficient care.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with the RN and other healthcare team members to achieve patient care outcomes and goals of care, as identified in the plan of care.

  • Obtains records and/or accurately enters data into the EMR, as identified in the PCT Scope of Practice. Competency validation and documentation of skill performance is required.

  • Provides emergent and non-emergent patient care transfers under the director of Registerd Nurse.

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living.

  • Assist with treatment of traumic injury.

  • Assists with Patient comfort and safety.

  • Contributes effectively to the communication needs of the department by acknowledging patients, healthcare providers and visitors upon arrival to the unit, engaging in collaborative communication, identifying and reporting patient care concerns in a timely manner, practicing excellent telephone etiquette.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED

Experience:

  • At least one year of clinical experience is p referred

License(s)/Certification(s):

  • Required (Upon Hire or Preferred):

  • Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (EMT-B) certification

  • Accepted from: Iowa Department of Public Health (IADPH), Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), or Wisconsin Department of Health Services (WI DHS)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) (preferred upon hire; required within 30 days)

  • Required Within 90 Days of Hire:

  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification

  • Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training

  • Mandatory Reporter Training (as applicable to state of practice):

  • Child Abuse Reporting (IA and/or IL)

  • Dependent Adult Abuse Reporting (IA and/or IL)
