Production Supervisor

Pay Rate:

The pay rate for this job is $28 - $31 / hour*

What You'll Be Doing as a Production Supervisor:

  • Direct the work of all production employees on the assigned shift, including allocating personnel to required job functions

  • Closely supervise machine operators to ensure compliance with all production standards

  • Assign work within the production department to meet production schedules and deadlines

  • Ensure all production records are accurately completed and maintained

  • Maintain safe working conditions and enforce safety policies and procedures

  • Supervise housekeeping activities within the production department and ensure the area remains tour-ready at all times

  • Meet production standards on the assigned shift and report any deviations to the Production Manager

  • Maintain accurate production and operational reports

  • Perform production duties when necessary for training, emergency situations, or excessive workloads

  • Conduct shift handoff meetings (Tier 1) with other supervisors at the beginning and end of each shift

  • Assign Tier 1 issues to appropriate personnel and monitor progress throughout the shift

  • Escalate unresolved Tier 1 issues to Tier 2 as required

  • Ensure efficient operations and support the development of team members to maximize effectiveness

  • Set up all extruders and adjust center and vacuum settings as required

  • Adjust water levels, water troughs, and puller speeds to maintain product quality

  • Select, install, and verify the performance of pins, dies, calibration tools, coilers, cutters, and other production equipment

  • Calculate required stock and supplies based on production schedules and requisition materials from the storage area

  • Inspect and measure extruded products to ensure compliance with company quality standards

  • Review production schedules and estimate labor requirements to complete assigned jobs

  • Interpret specifications and work orders and assign duties to employees accordingly

  • Recommend improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and product quality

  • Suggest modifications to working conditions and equipment usage to improve efficiency and productivity

  • Maintain high employee morale and foster a positive work environment

  • Analyze and resolve work-related issues and assist employees in problem-solving

  • Initiate and recommend motivational programs to help employees achieve production goals

  • Maintain a positive and safe work environment and ensure all safety procedures are followed

  • Ensure knowledge of products, processes, and quality requirements

  • Perform the duties of all operator positions when required

  • Train new employees on the effective operation of production lines

  • Perform Material Handler duties and operate sit-down forklifts and stand-up reach trucks when certified

  • Participate in all required training programs and exercises necessary to perform job duties satisfactorily

  • Complete all company-required safety and PPE training

  • Wear safety glasses at all times in manufacturing, production, and factory areas

  • Wear hearing protection, vision protection, and other required PPE when performing designated job functions

  • Collaborate effectively with managers, directors, and cross-functional teams

  • Research product information and technical data to ensure a thorough understanding of products and processes

  • Display enthusiasm and promote a positive, team-oriented work environment

  • Listen actively, communicate effectively, and provide well-reasoned solutions to workplace challenges

  • Analyze project timelines and meet established deadlines while adhering to departmental and corporate budget requirements

  • Establish and maintain effective processes and timelines to support operational objectives

  • Assess and revise documentation to ensure information is appropriate for the intended audience and clearly understood

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Shift timings- 3rd Shift (Night)

Job Requirements:

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for employment with PeopleReady

  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university; or five years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. ASQ Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred

  • Experience with ERP systems required; SAP experience preferred

  • SPC (Statistical Process Control) and TQM (Total Quality Management) experience preferred

  • Experience in a medium- to high-volume manufacturing environment

  • Strong hands-on supervisory and leadership skills

  • Proactive and self-motivated work ethic

  • Strong communication and people management skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to perform highly accurate work

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general PC applications

  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out written, oral, and diagram-based instructions

  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills

  • Ability to present complex information clearly and concisely

  • Ability to analyze problems involving multiple variables and develop effective solutions

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical documents, reports, SOPs, and procedures

  • Ability to respond professionally to customer inquiries and complaints

  • Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and memos

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to adapt communication style, tone, and technical terminology to different audiences

  • Ability to understand mathematical concepts, including probability, statistical inference, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions

  • Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

  • Ability to interpret technical instructions presented in mathematical or diagrammatic form

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred

  • Valid Driver's License required

  • Valid Passport required

  • Ability to lift and/or move objects over 75 pounds with the assistance of mechanical aids or a co-worker

  • Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred

  • Ability to set up and operate extrusion equipment, including extruders, dies, calibration systems, coilers, and cutters

  • Knowledge of PVC and PE compounds and extrusion processes

  • Ability to inspect and measure products to verify compliance with quality standards

  • Strong leadership, team management, and employee development skills

  • Ability to interpret production specifications, work orders, and schedules

  • Experience analyzing production issues and implementing corrective actions

  • Ability to operate sit-down forklifts and stand-up reach trucks; certification preferred or required

  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Knowledge of workplace safety regulations and best practices

  • Ability to train and mentor employees effectively

  • Ability to perform the physical duties of production operators and material handlers as needed

  • Background check and Drug test required
