Full job description

Description We are looking for a Strategic Sourcing Manager to support procurement initiatives for a long-term contract opportunity based in San Francisco, California. This role will shape sourcing strategies, strengthen supplier partnerships, and help business teams achieve cost, quality, and risk management goals. The ideal candidate brings strong commercial judgment, data-driven decision-making, and the ability to guide complex purchasing activities across cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Create category strategies that align sourcing activity with business priorities while driving measurable savings, service improvements, and risk reduction.

  • Bring together stakeholders from multiple functions to define requirements, evaluate options, and move supplier programs forward effectively.

  • Produce reporting on spend, savings, supplier results, and key performance indicators to track outcomes and support decision-making.

  • Deliver clear insight into vendor expenditures and supplier effectiveness for both operational teams and senior leadership.

  • Lead competitive sourcing events and oversee the supplier evaluation process from market assessment through final recommendation.

  • Work closely with partners in Legal, Information Security, and governance-related functions to advance agreements through the purchasing lifecycle and secure strong commercial terms.

  • Serve as the primary procurement advisor for assigned business units, ensuring strategic alignment and responsive support.

  • Contribute to procurement workflow and purchasing process activities, including coordination related to source-to-pay tools and approvals when needed. Requirements • At least 5 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or a closely related supply chain function.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a comparable field of study.

  • Demonstrated success negotiating contracts and managing supplier agreements in services and technology categories.

  • Hands-on experience with eSourcing platforms, spend analysis tools, Excel, and Google Workspace applications.

  • Strong knowledge of category planning and execution within complex sourcing environments.

  • Ability to lead multi-step sourcing initiatives while balancing stakeholder expectations, timelines, and business objectives.

  • Clear communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a service-oriented approach to internal partnership.

  • Familiarity with procure-to-pay systems, procurement workflow tools, or data visualization platforms such as Oracle or Tableau is a plus.
