Your Opportunity

Stantec’s multi-disciplinary office in Mt Laurel, NJ has an opportunity for a Civil Site Designer to join our Community Development team.

We are seeking a candidate with experience in professional practice and design related to land development/community development. This position will involve significant projects, interacting with clients and government agencies and effectively working with a team.

The successful candidate will work on a variety of projects for clients within the private and municipal (local, state and federal) sectors. Typical projects involve site/civil design for residential, commercial and industrial site development, as well as capital improvement/utility infrastructure projects. You may be needed to visit project sites and perform construction observation activities. We offer all candidates the opportunity to challenge their abilities in a dynamic work environment.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Supports project team in development of design documentation, plans, and reports for relevant project design elements.

  • Site/civil plan preparation including grading design, water and sewer infrastructure design, roadway design

  • Design of storm water management systems, and erosion and sediment control plans.

  • Preparation of survey plans including topographic base plan preparation.

  • Working on design teams in all aspects of a given project to develop detailed design documents or construction plans.

  • Ordinance/code and deed research, cost estimation, and permitting applications.

  • Ready to step in and assist with any of design team tasks in order to complete project on time and with quality design.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Self-starter with diligent work ethic and strong attention to detail

  • Effective communication skills and ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought

  • Ability to visualize three-dimensional concepts and layouts from diagrams or drawings

  • Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the design team

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and some previous experience with relevant software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, StormCAD, HydroCAD, WaterCAD, etc.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited school.

  • 0 to 3 years of relevant design experience preferred.

  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred/required within the first two years of employment.

  • Prior experience with a Land Development Engineering firm is preferred.

Pay Range:

  • Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ, VA Areas-$76,800.00 - $107,500.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
