Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$41.960 - $51.410 - $60.850

This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU.

What You Will Do

The Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) is a professional caregiver who performs cardiopulmonary diagnostics, therapeutics and monitors within his/her scope of practice per TCMC physician approved policies, procedures and protocols. This position maintains professional standards of conduct and ethics as outlined in hospital and department expectations and professional organizations.  The employee provides education to patients, families, caregivers and other health professionals.   The RCP demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to patients'/caregivers' rights, as identified within the institution. Pulmonary Function Technologists may complete the same duties as RCPs and provide additional specialized testing of patients (PFTs). The RCP follows/adheres to guidelines of care.

Required Qualifications

  • Other Graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Care.

  • 2 Years experience in acute care in respiratory therapy

  • Experience in Bronchoscopy.

  • California Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP) - Respiratory Care Board of CA -REQUIRED

  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

  • ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pulmonary Rehabilitation experience.

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association -PREFERRED

Other Qualification Requirements

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist, required.  May accept CRT in lieu of RRT if obtained prior to 7/1/02.Current NRP certification, required. (NICU position only)

Essential Functions

The characteristics of the position and standards of performance may be changed by TCMC with or without prior notice based on the needs of the organization.Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements.Provide respiratory care therapies or diagnostics to patients and maintains specific level of RCP I or RCP II competencies.Provide respiratory education to patients, family members or other healthcare providers (all levels).Ensure accurate documentation of therapies provided (all levels)Ensure accurate charging for therapies provided (all levels)General floor care, autonomous with adult critical intensive care.NICU critical intensive care RCP (NICU position only).Perform pulmonary function testing (PFT position only).Distributes daily assignments (when assigned).
