Emergency Department Technician - Emergency Room

Founded in 1921, Straub Benioff Medical Center includes a 159-bed hospital in Honolulu, a network of neighborhood clinics and a visiting specialist program that reaches throughout the state of Hawai'i. With over 200 physicians who are leaders in their fields, Straub provides its patients with diagnoses and treatments for more than 32 different medical specialties, including bone and joint, heart, cancer, endocrinology/diabetes, family medicine, gastroenterology, geriatric medicine, internal medicine, vascular and urology. Straub is home to the Pacific Region’s only multidisciplinary burn treatment center. The hospital consistently brings new technologies and innovative medical practices to Hawai'i, such as minimally invasive cardiac surgery and total joint replacement.

The Emergency Room department at Straub includes 13 treatment areas that attend to approximately 60 to 80 patients per day, for issues ranging from cardiac or surgical care to acute injuries. Patients can go to any emergency room in Hawai‘i, but many chose Straub for its service excellence and longstanding commitment to providing the best quality care. The independent national hospital rating service HealthGrades.com has rated Straub as #1 in the treatment of stroke, heart attack, angioplasty, heart by-pass surgery and respiratory infection.

As the Emergency Department Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring that the Emergency Room is able to provide quality, effective intervention for patients with critical health conditions. You would support and care for patients under the direct clinical supervision of licensed professionals including monitoring and documenting vital signs and patient flow. Minimum Qualifications: High school or equivalent. Completion of nursing degree, critical care technician or EMT program, or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR card. One (1) year clinical or emergency experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification. Two (2) years emergency experience with pediatric patients.
