Full job description

$21.18 per hour | Full-time

In this role you will be responsible for clerical functions and maintenance of detainee medical records in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and customer directives.

Education and Experience Requirements: What you will do

  • Maintain medical patient records ensuring all health encounters are accurately and promptly entered into the record, to include lab work, x-rays, immunizations, cursory, etc.

  • Perform other general clerical duties including, but not limited to typing correspondence, form letters, schedules, forms and reports.

  • Proofread, copy documents, process incoming and outgoing mail, answer telephone, receive visitors and file.

  • Maintain records of services and prepare billing documents submitted to appropriate agencies for facility reimbursement of health care costs.

  • Maintain absolute security and confidentiality of all medical records; observe applicable HIPAA rules.

  • Complete daily audits of medical records to ensure accuracy and quality of documentation and review results for any pattern of deficiencies and communicate these findings to healthcare staff.

  • Process requests for medical information from outside hospitals, clinics, physicians and secures pertinent medical information from other sources relative to the treatment of patients.

  • Enter the required information about each detainee visit with a healthcare professional into the appropriate data system (e.g. ODS).

  • Coordinate notification of transfers to other health service departments, obtain medical records and review daily for completeness and accuracy prior to transfer.

  • Regular and predictable onsite attendance and working assigned shift is required.

  • The incumbent is required to work overtime when directed to do so.

  • Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.

  • Maintain accountability of staff, detainees and property; adhere to safety practices.

  • It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her scope of work as determined by management.

Education and Experience Requirements: What you will need

  • High school diploma or GED

  • one (1) year medical office experience to include computer data entry experience

  • US citizenship or lawful US permanent resident

  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required

  • Must successfully complete required preservice training.
