Full job description

Meet the Team The Splunk Metadata Catalog (MDC) team is part of the Splunk Platform. We’re building a Knowledge Graph that helps Splunk users easily discover their data while understanding the relationships and lineage between different Splunk objects. You will be joining a team that is building a new product with fast paced innovation, pioneering technology and is central to Cisco Data Fabric vision.

Your Impact As a Software Engineer on the team, you will:

  • Contribute to high level design for multiple features by working in conjunction with senior team members and technical leaders

  • Build reliable, scalable, and high-performance applications

  • Be responsible for overall quality of the product by driving Developer Owned Quality approach within the team

  • Debug and resolve customer-reported issues, delivering effective solutions.

  • Participate in on-call rotations, post-incident reviews, and other operational activities to ensure service reliability

  • Learn, explore, and integrate new technologies into the team’s workflow

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s + 5 years of related experience, or Master’s + 3 years of related experience

  • Proven experience building and delivering new services / features in a fast-paced product environment, using cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure or GCP, as well as container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes

  • Hands-on professional experience developing and debugging in an object-oriented language such as Go, C++ or Java

  • Experience working in Agile environments with CI/CD and iterative development practices

  • Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, software design and modern distributed systems

  • Strong focus on software quality, reliability and performance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with graph databases such as Neo4j, AWS Neptune or Apache AGE, and/or building knowledge graphs for data objects or entities

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams

  • Comfortable working in an evolving environment and adapting to changing priorities

  • Curiosity and a strong willingness to learn and take on new challenges
