Job Description
Insight Global is seeking an AFSIM Modeler to support Army Aviation modeling, simulation, experimentation, and capability development efforts. This individual will be responsible for building, maintaining, and executing Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM) scenarios to evaluate aviation platforms, weapons systems, sensors, networks, and emerging capabilities.
The ideal candidate will work closely with engineers, analysts, and Army Aviation subject matter experts to translate real-world operational challenges into simulation-based analytical studies that support future force design and capability development decisions.
Responsibilities include:
Develop, maintain, and improve AFSIM models and mission scenarios. Configure and execute simulation run sets to evaluate system performance and mission outcomes. Model aviation platforms, sensors, weapons, missile systems, radar/electronic warfare capabilities, command and control networks, and related mission systems. Create and maintain scripts and analytical tools to support simulation execution, data collection, and post-processing activities. Support the development and modification of AFSIM plug-ins and extensions. Analyze simulation data and create visualizations to communicate findings and recommendations. Conduct sensitivity analyses and compare alternative system configurations and capability options. Collaborate with Army Aviation stakeholders and systems engineers to develop operationally relevant analytical scenarios. Support model verification, validation, and quality assurance activities. Document assumptions, source data, model configurations, inputs, and data lineage. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and briefing materials to communicate analysis results.
Compensation:
$105,000.00 to $110,000.00 per year annual salary.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Benefit packages for this role may include healthcare insurance offerings and paid leave as provided by applicable law.
Skills and Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related technical field. 7+ years of professional experience supporting modeling, simulation, analysis, engineering, or related technical efforts. 3+ years of hands-on experience developing and executing simulations within AFSIM. Experience creating mission scenarios and configuring AFSIM simulation run sets. Proficiency with C++ development. Experience using Python or similar scripting languages for automation, data collection, and data analysis. Strong quantitative analysis and problem-solving skills. Experience analyzing simulation results and translating findings into actionable recommendations. Ability to work effectively with engineers, analysts, and operational subject matter experts. Strong technical documentation and communication skills. Active Secret Security Clearance. Army Aviation experience. Prior Department of Defense (DoD) modeling and simulation experience. Experience modeling aircraft, weapons, sensors, missile systems, radar systems, electronic warfare capabilities, or command and control (C2) networks. Experience supporting mission-level analysis or system-of-systems evaluations. Familiarity with Army capability development, experimentation, and force modernization processes. Experience developing AFSIM plug-ins, custom extensions, or advanced simulation enhancements. Experience with data visualization and analytical reporting tools. Understanding of verification, validation, and quality-control processes within modeling and simulation environments.
