Job Title: Groundskeeper- Douglas CampusAgency: West Georgia Technical College Job Requisition ID: JR0000002073Shift: Day (United States of America)Compensation Details: $38,480.00 PER YEAR Job Description: Job Summary: The Groundskeeper is responsible for performing technical duties in the maintenance of campus grounds. Essential Functions:

Mows grass and trims weeds utilizing large power lawn mowers, edgers, hand tools, and large vehicles associated with ground maintenance and landscaping activities. Provides preventative maintenance to grounds areas. (50%)

Assesses campus grounds for maintenance needs and follows planned designs to determine where to plant or lay sod, plant seeds, bulbs, foliage, and applies mulch and pine straw for protection using gardening tools. Apply herbicides, pesticides, and treats grounds for mosquitoes, fire ants, and other insects. (20%)

Maintains grounds maintenance equipment. (10%)

Shovels and removes snow and ice from designated areas such as roofs, sidewalks, and entryways as required and collects trash and debris for disposal. (10%)

Maintains parking lots and other surfaces including asphalt repairs. (5%)

Knowledge of grounds keeping and simple horticulture practices

Knowledge of the operation, maintenance and repair of grounds maintenance equipment

Skill in the operation of assigned vehicles and equipment

Skill in the analysis of problems and the implementation of solutions

Ability to read and follow instructions

Ability to work outside in extreme weather Work Environment: Grounds maintenance work is done outdoors in all weather conditions. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the work can be repetitive and physically demanding, requiring frequent bending, kneeling, lifting, and shoveling. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate grounds equipment and tools. Repetitive use of wrists and/or hands and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds regularly. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Thursday, 7 am to 4:30 pm and Friday, 8 am until 12 pm. Depending on the needs of the college a Monday through Thursday schedule of four ten hours days may be approved. This position occasionally requires longer hours. Travel: Travel to other campus locations is required, as needed. Required Education and Experience:
