Consultant, Transportation

NAOU transportation is a $1B annual spend with over 600,000 shipments. The Customer Operations Transportation Team is responsible for ensuring we have the capacity needed from transportation providers to support the business at an optimum cost that also meets our service requirements to support our customers and facilities.

The role focuses on resolving transportation issues and supporting escalations to ensure continuity of service across the network. This position is also responsible for maintaining data and system accuracy within Oracle Transportation Management, as well as managing freight claims and weekly fuel surcharge programs. Success in the role requires strong problem-solving capabilities, a high attention to detail, effective communication with internal and external stakeholders and the ability to prioritize and act with urgency in a fast-paced operating environment.

What You’ll Do for Us

• Provide support to RMS on all transportation related issues requiring escalations and approvals.

• Resolve transportation related problems, including identifying issues, thinking critically to determine the best course of action and implementing solutions.

• Support Customer Ops team on critical weather event activities, plant outages, special movements and other transportation related items that may require attention.

• Timely resolution of issues and proactive communication with appropriate stakeholders.

• Manage and track transportation freight claims.

• Participate in weekly meeting cadences with RMS

• Lead productivity initiatives supporting Transportation Operations

• Implementation of all rates and commitments utilizing rate schedules and Oracle Transportation Management (OTM)

• All other OTM system updates (capacity limits, commitment allocations, etc.)

• Responsible for processing the weekly fuel surcharge program

• Other administrative activities supporting Customer Operations

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics/Supply Chain Management or related field experience

• 2+ years relevant work experience in OTR Transportation

• Experience with Oracle Transportation Management systems and SAP preferred

• Intermediate Excel skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; clear, effective communication with internal and external stakeholders

• High attention to detail, ability to thrive under deadlines and work in a team environment, while also delivering independent results.

• Management of large amounts of data in an organized and accurate manner

• Demonstrated ability to review issues and provide recommendations for resolution

• Candidate must demonstrate integrity and dedication and have a positive work attitude and strong work ethic.

• Strong prioritization skills, multi-tasking skills, and works with a sense of urgency.
