Position Summary/Description:
The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a full-time fixed-term faculty member at the rank of Clinical Instructor to work at UNC Youth Behavioral Health ( YBH ) in Butner, NC. UNC YBH is an advanced 54-bed inpatient psychiatric hospital for children, adolescents, and transitional-age youth (age 18-24) with the purpose of providing services to families seeking specialized, inpatient behavioral health treatment. YBH operates with an integrated, multidisciplinary approach.
Principal duties of the position includes:

Provide patient education about mental health disorders and available treatment options specific to this population. YBH has 2 general adolescent psychiatry inpatient units, 1 specialized unit treating mental health conditions within the IDD population and 1 specialized unit for transitional-age youth (age 18-24).

Provide brief psychotherapeutic interventions using evidence-based techniques. Areas of specific clinical skills of interest include experiences in trauma therapies, systemic and family models of therapy.

Provide or facilitate evidence-based short term psychosocial treatments to patients and their parents/guardians (e.g., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy ( CBT ), Dialectal Behavioral therapy, and Trauma informed treatment modalities), psychoeducation, and strategies to support behavioral changes.

Strong engagement with social work principles and their application to complex problems required for case management and interdisciplinary collaborations and interdisciplinary team meetings.
