Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Linux Tech Lead to support the operational testing, development, and integration of Navy and Marine Corps Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) training systems at Marine Corps Base Quantico. This individual will be responsible for maintaining the operational readiness of the LVC federation environment and ensuring all simulation systems are compatible, interoperable, and aligned with Marine Corps and Fleet training requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the operational readiness of the LVC federation, ensuring systems are calibrated, synchronized, and ready for training events.
- Plan for future scalability and integrate new capabilities without disrupting ongoing operations.
- Administer and manage Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) and High-Level Architecture (HLA) protocols to enable seamless data exchange and interoperability across simulation platforms.
- Stand up, configure, and manage HLA federations for training exercises, ensuring all participating systems are properly integrated and synchronized.
- Monitor federation performance during exercises and provide real-time troubleshooting and optimization.
- Manage and synchronize enumerations across simulation systems to maintain alignment with master class lists and ensure data integrity.
- Evaluate hardware and software compatibility with DIS and HLA standards and ensure compliance across the LVC architecture.
- Coordinate system updates, upgrades, and configuration changes while maintaining protocol compatibility and interoperability.
- Conduct integration testing across multiple simulation systems to validate performance and interoperability.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to DIS and HLA configurations, integrations, and system performance.
- Provide real-time technical support during training events to minimize downtime and ensure mission success.
- Perform root cause analysis on recurring or critical issues and implement long-term corrective actions to improve reliability and training effectiveness.
- Support evolving customer, business, and contractual requirements during operational events and exercises.
Compensation: $55/hr to 67/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start day 1 of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
Skills and Requirements

5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience. (In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 8 years applicable work experience)

Must be familiar with Linux (command line) and Windows operating systems

Must have technical leadership ability. During LVC training event execution, must be able to address technical issues by understanding which engineering domain problems belong to and then assign engineers from the appropriate domains to resolve issues. o Strong Linux system administration experience in an enterprise or mission-critical environment. o Experience supporting HLA and/or DIS-based simulation environments. o Background with Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) training systems or distributed simulation environments. o Experience configuring, integrating, and troubleshooting complex federated systems. o Knowledge of interoperability standards, protocol compliance, and system integration testing.

Knowledge of distributed simulation protocols such as High Level Architecture (HLA) and Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS)

Familiarity with networking concepts, architectures, and protocols such as TCP/IP and UDP Experience supporting real-time operations and troubleshooting issues during live events.

Strong problem-solving skills with experience performing root cause analysis and implementing long-term solutions.

Ability to work onsite in Quantico, VA and support event-driven operational schedules.

Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable communicating at various levels of the organization. This may involve lower-level technical collaboration on issues with assigned engineers or high level explanation of issues and/or status updates with senior leadership

Experience with MS Visio software to produce technical architecture drawings

Knowledge of Navy and Marine Corps C4I tactical systems such as Link 16 and GCCS

Experience working with Navy and/or Marine Corps systems and/or commands
