Full job description
The Advanced Imaging Technologist, CT is a licensed Radiologic Technologist who supports safe and efficient CT operations while participating in structured, on-the-job CT training. Working in collaboration with onsite and remote CT Technologists, the technologist assists with patient preparation, positioning, CT workflow coordination, contrast-related activities, documentation, and post-examination responsibilities within the individual’s license, departmental policies, and validated competencies. This position provides an opportunity to develop advanced imaging skills and obtain IV injection training and certification without requiring prior CT experience or mandatory progression into a fully credentialed CT Technologist position. Employees may remain in this role long-term or use the experience as a pathway toward CT certification and future advancement.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.

Current New York State license in Radiologic Technology.

Current ARRT certification in Radiography, or eligibility consistent with organizational hiring requirements.

Current Basic Life Support certification.

No previous CT experience required.

Ability and willingness to successfully complete IV injection training and certification as required for assigned responsibilities.

Interest in CT workflow, advanced imaging operations, expanded clinical responsibilities, and continued professional development.

Prior hospital-based radiography experience is preferred.

Strong patient care, communication, teamwork, adaptability, and organizational skills are preferred.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

Works alongside onsite and remote CT Technologists to support patient care, positioning, workflow coordination, examination preparation, and post-examination activities.

Coordinates with remote CT scanning personnel in accordance with established departmental workflows, policies, and role expectations.

Participates in structured CT training that includes patient safety, radiation safety, patient positioning, contrast workflow, and documentation requirements.

Completes required IV injection training and maintains competency for assigned contrast-related responsibilities, as permitted by license, organizational policy, and validated competency.

Prepares patients for CT examinations, provides appropriate instructions, and promotes patient comfort, safety, privacy, and cooperation throughout the imaging process.

Assists with patient transport coordination, and communication with nursing staff, ordering providers, and other members of the care team as appropriate to the role.

Supports contrast preparation and administration activities within the technologist’s authorized scope of practice and demonstrated competency.

Assists with examination tracking, order verification, workflow documentation, and completion of required information in RIS, PACS, and associated imaging systems.

Performs diagnostic radiography examinations and related responsibilities as assigned based on operational needs, licensure, and demonstrated competency.

Applies radiation protection principles and follows infection prevention, patient identification, safety, privacy, and exposure-control requirements.

Provides patient care appropriate to the patient’s age, condition, clinical needs, and level of understanding.

Maintains training records and completes departmental competency validations according to established expectations.

Communicates workflow concerns, patient safety issues, examination delays, and equipment concerns to the appropriate CT Technologist, supervisor, or clinical team member.

Maintains flexibility to rotate among assigned shifts, campuses, weekends, holidays, and other coverage assignments based on departmental needs.

Demonstrates professionalism, reliability, collaboration, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn in a high-volume imaging environment.

Maintains compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, licensure standards, mandatory education, and departmental procedures.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Should be able to push/pull, lift/move 35 lb., be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard, writing, and filing for extended periods of time, must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as data entry, typing and using photo copiers. Mobility requirements may include the ability to be stationary at a workstation for a prolonged period time in addition to being able to squat or be mobile for a reasonable length of time and distance. Communication requirements include the ability to comprehend the spoken English language in addition to being able to communicate and read the English language.

Salary Range: $38.59-$57.89/hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
