Full job description

Mission: The Port of South Louisiana’s mission is to serve the maritime transportation needs of resident industry; assist resident industry in developing maritime and industrial facilities; encourage foreign and domestic investment within the River Parishes Region and Louisiana; and attract foreign and domestic cargo to the Globalplex Intermodal Terminal.

Overview of Role: The Airport Fuel Technician 3 performs advanced-level maintenance, testing, quality-control, and compliance duties for airport fuel systems and related equipment. Success in this role requires strong technical knowledge, sound judgment, attention to safety and regulatory requirements, effective troubleshooting skills, and the ability to provide technical guidance and training to other personnel. This position offers the opportunity to serve in a lead technical capacity and directly support the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the Port’s airport fueling operations.No training or experience is required.The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here. Job Duties: Under the general supervision of the Airport Director, this position performs advanced-level maintenance, testing, repair, quality control, and compliance duties for airport fuel systems and related equipment. The position also provides technical guidance to lower-level personnel and supports safe and effective fueling, ground-handling, and emergency-response operations.

  • Performs the most complex maintenance and repair tasks for fuel storage tanks and related equipment.
  • Performs daily sump tests on all fuel storage tanks and filter vessels.
  • Conducts Millipore testing on incoming fuel to ensure product cleanliness and compliance.
  • Guides lower-level technicians on fuel storage and maintenance tasks; ensures safety protocols are followed and verifies results collected by lower-level technicians.
  • Serves as a project leader for airport fuel equipment maintenance projects.

Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Probational Career Progression: This position does participate in a Career Progression Group. Work Schedule: Part-time schedule: 30 hours per week, 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The schedule alternates between Monday through Thursday and Saturday one week, and Monday through Friday the following week. Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
