Your opportunity

At Schwab, we're committed to empowering our employees to make a meaningful impact while helping clients achieve their financial goals. The Marketing Technology & Enablement (MT&E) team within the Marketing organization enables personalized communications, lead management, customer engagement, and marketing operations through scalable technology, automation, and data-driven solutions. Our team is responsible for the platforms, integrations, governance, and processes that power marketing execution across the enterprise.

We are seeking a Marketo Platform Owner to lead the administration, optimization, and ongoing evolution of our enterprise marketing automation ecosystem. This role serves as a technical expert for the Marketo platform and works closely with Marketing, Campaign Management, Lead Management, Salesforce, Technology, and other business partners to deliver scalable solutions that support business growth and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong consulting and problem-solving skills. They are comfortable troubleshooting complex issues, designing scalable solutions, and translating business ideas into actionable technical requirements that improve how our teams work every day.

What You'll Do

The Marketo Platform Owner is responsible for the overall administration, governance, optimization, and day-to-day operation of the Marketo platform and its supporting ecosystem. This role serves as the primary technical expert, ensuring reliable platform performance, scalable processes, data integrity, and successful integration with connected systems.

Platform Administration & Governance

  • Own the day-to-day administration and management of the Marketo platform.

  • Configure and maintain system settings, workspaces, partitions, channels, tags, user roles, permissions, and governance standards.

  • Monitor platform performance, identify risks, and implement improvements to ensure scalability and reliability.

  • Maintain documentation, standards, and best practices for platform usage and administration.

  • Manage platform releases, feature evaluations, and adoption of new Marketo capabilities.

Technical Development & Configuration

  • Design, build, and maintain Marketo program templates, email templates, landing pages, forms, and reusable operational assets.

  • Develop and troubleshoot Velocity scripting for dynamic content, personalization, and advanced email use cases.

  • Configure and maintain webhooks, APIs, and custom integrations.

  • Create and maintain operational programs, Smart Campaigns, lifecycle workflows, routing logic, and process automation.

  • Partner with technology teams to implement and support integrations that extend beyond Marketo.

Data Management & Integrations

  • Serve as the primary owner of Marketo-Salesforce synchronization and related data processes.

  • Create and maintain fields, data mappings, custom objects, and data governance standards.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot sync failures, data discrepancies, and integration issues.

  • Partner with CRM and technology teams to improve data quality, data flows, and system performance.

  • Support ongoing data hygiene initiatives and ensure the integrity of customer and prospect data.

Business Partnership & Consultation

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to Campaign Managers, Marketers, Lead Management teams, and other business stakeholders.

  • Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and actionable implementation plans.

  • Consult with stakeholders on campaign execution, segmentation, lead routing, automation strategies, and reporting requirements.

  • Evaluate new business requests and recommend the most effective solution based on platform capabilities and organizational standards.

  • Provide training, guidance, and support to platform users.

Troubleshooting & Operational Support

  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex Marketo issues.

  • Diagnose and resolve platform, integration, email, data, and process-related issues.

  • Perform root cause analysis and implement preventative solutions.

  • Manage production support activities and ensure timely resolution of operational problems.

  • Collaborate across teams to identify process improvements and opportunities for automation.

What you have

  • 2+ years of Adobe Marketo Engage administration experience.

  • Experience managing Marketo programs, Smart Campaigns, forms, templates, and automation.

  • Working knowledge of Velocity scripting, APIs, webhooks, and Marketo-Salesforce integrations.

  • Understanding of marketing automation, lead management, campaign operations, and data governance.

  • Experience troubleshooting platform issues and supporting integrations with third-party systems.

  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and email development best practices.

  • Ability to gather business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.

  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Marketo Certified Expert (MCE) certification.

  • Experience supporting multiple Marketo instances.

  • Experience with Salesforce, REST APIs, and integration tools.
