Summary
About the Position: This is a Military Technician position with the 63rd Readiness Division, Area Maintenance Support Activity 73 located in Houston, Texas. This position requires an active membership as a Soldier in the Army Reserve before a start date can be set. Duties
- Plan work schedules
- Establish deadlines and priorities
- Assign tasks to employees and make adjustments as necessary
- Review work for accuracy and compliance with standards
- lnvestigate and correct productivity problems for an efficient work environment
- ldentify training needs of employees
- Provide instruction, direction and guidance to employees
- Counsel employees on problems and/or complaints and union representation
- Initiate proposals for disciplinary actions
- Schedule and approve leave
- Interview candidates for vacant positions and provide recommendations for selection
- Develop performance standards

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer Supervisor without more than normal supervision. Ability to Lead or Supervise - To meet the screen-out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: skill in workforce planning, training and employee development; administrative and employee management; operation of motor vehicles; prioritize workload based on future deadlines; identifying training needs; and operating the full range of gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability To Lead or Supervise Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Trouble Shooting Use of Measuring Instruments

This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Salary is based on the local prevailing rate. New Army Reserve Military Technicians may be authorized moving expenses to their first official duty station. To be eligible to receive moving expenses, you must be a newly appointed Federal civilian employee or have a minimum of a 3-day break in service from previous Federal civilian employment. As a supervisor, you must comply with the Army Civilian Education System (CES) course and timeline requirements. The Supervisory Development Course (SDC) must be completed within one year of placement into a supervisory position, to include those with supervisory duties less than 25% of the position. Position may be filled as a Temporary Appointment NTE 1 year. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three (3) years. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a Temporary appointment will be appointed/converted into a Temporary appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.
