Full job description

Southland Holdings is currently accepting resumes for experienced heavy highway Field Engineers for our Southeast Texas/Louisiana division.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Assists the Project Manager with required documents and information to support the successful completion of construction activities

  • Attends construction project meetings and safety meetings as assigned Other Skills and Abilities

  • Serves as resource for project specifications, procedures, relevant portions of contract, etc.

  • Collects measurements and information to compare to contract documentation to depict changes, requests for information, etc…

  • Evaluates change order requests including design changes, specifications and drawing releases and reports status.

  • Completes project close out requirements in accordance with contract documents.

  • Maintains effective and professional relationships with owners, Engineers, vendors and contractors.

  • Executes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Preferred 1+ years of highway construction field experience, DOT and must be proficient with AutoCAD

  • Bilingual is a must (Spanish and English)

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent combination of education and/or experience

  • Responsible to learn construction practices as required for compliance with federal, state, and local codes; industry standards; company procedures; contractual requirements; etc.

  • Must be able to legally work in the United States.

  • Must be willing to work in a drug-free environment and agree to a post offer drug test.

  • Must be willing to work safely and keep OSHA recordable incidents to a minimum.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of industry standards and specialty bridge design software; must be proficient with MS Office.

  • P6 Experience preferred

  • Must be physically capable of navigating rugged terrain & climbing for the purpose of performing the duties outlined above.

  • Must be willing to travel and/or relocate as needed.
