Virtual Construction Tech Lead

Job Description

A client of Insight Global is seeking a Virtual Construction Tech Lead to serve as the technical authority for virtual construction technology across mechanical sheet metal, piping, and plumbing operations. This individual will lead and standardize digital workflows supporting fabrication, layout, and field installation, with a strong focus on model-based layout using Trimble RTS total stations. They will oversee reality capture initiatives, manage point cloud data, support coordination and QA/QC efforts, and partner with project teams, VC leadership, and field stakeholders to ensure technology and workflows align with project and operational needs.

The ideal candidate will establish and maintain data management standards, optimize models for coordination and fabrication, and own the virtual construction database. They will be responsible for developing database scripts, automating data workflows, and leveraging AI agents and emerging technologies to improve platform performance, data integrity, and operational efficiency. Additionally, this individual will train teams on VC tools and best practices, develop standardized processes, and drive continuous improvement across the organization.

Skills and Requirements

5+ years of experience in VC database or Modeling content within BIM, Revit, and Revizto

Extensive hands-on experience with RTS and layout workflows

Experience with developing scripting within model database

Proficiency in PowerBI and AI agent utilization

Experience with scanners and point cloud processing

Solid understanding of model setup, shared coordinates, and digital control Proficiency in Trimble Business Center (TBC), Trimble Connect, or similar platforms

Experience supporting prefabrication and modular workflows
