Department: Surgical Services Employment Type: PRN/ Per Diem Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM or 7:00 AM-5:00 PM Location: St. Mary's Medical Center- Blue Springs, MO

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but is not limited to):

  • Maintain strict sterile technique and ensure proper sterilization of instruments

  • Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and anticipating needs

  • Perform accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments pre- and post-procedure

  • Support patient positioning and surgical site preparation (draping)

  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and OR team members to ensure efficient workflow

  • Prepare and organize surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment for procedures

Qualifications

  • Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

  • Graduate of an ORT training program or on-the-job training with a minimum of 3 years' experience (surgical setting preferred).

  • Experience scrubbing minor and major procedures across various surgical specialties (e.g., General, Ortho, Urology, and GYN).

  • Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.

  • Two to three years of experience working in an operating room setting or a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) upon hire, and maintain current certification

  • Must be proficient in the following specialties within 6 months: a. Gen b. Gyn c. Urol d. Vasc e. ENT/Plastics

  • Must be proficient in one of the following specialties within 6 months: a. Major Vascular b. Ortho c. Neuro

  • Proficient is defined as an associate who can perform cases in that specialty independently.
