Job Summary and Qualifications

The Market Life Safety Specialist Supports the Director of Facilities Management in the coordination of the Parkridge Health systems Environment of Care, Life Safety and Emergency Management programs along with uploading regulatory documentation for TJC, EPA and all AHJ.

Demonstrates the ability to:

  • Perform a wide variety of survey related activities ranging from Environment of Care/Life Safety inspections.

  • Review and verify documentation.

  • Review and develop management plans.

  • Coordinate fire drills and manage associated documentation.

  • Perform staff training and readiness reporting

  • Provide technical advisement to remedy non-compliance issues concerning federal, state, and local fire code as well as assist in the development of procedural guidelines, bulletins, and related interpretation.

  • Partner with internal departments such as Risk Management, Quality, Security, and Maintenance

  • Performs preventative maintenance on hospital equipment according to established procedures and timetables.

  • Electrical

  • Mechanical/HVAC

  • Plumbing

  • Medical Gas

  • Fuel

  • Performs corrective maintenance in a timely manner.

  • Performs tests and inspections on various equipment and systems.

  • Assesses needs and orders spare and replacement parts.

  • Has working knowledge of the principles of electricity, i.e. voltage, resistance, current

  • Assist daily rounds as assigned, logs equipment readings, makes indicated adjustments and/or creates work requests for major repairs.

  • Proactively identifies and performs needed repairs to buildings and equipment.

  • Maintains Environment of Care by following the standard procedures: Life Safety, Infection Control, Universal Precautions and Security.

  • Completes electronic work orders on a daily basis.

  • Demonstrates knowledge to access SDS information.

  • Demonstrates the ability to operate construction tools and equipment.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Education: Associate degree from an accredited institution in Fire Science or related field OR Certification in regulatory life safety code compliance.

  • Licensure/Certification: Current Driver’s License, NFPA Certification

  • Experience: Five-years’ hospital or commercial preferred.

Parkridge Medical Center is a 270+ bed hospital. We are near downtown Chattanooga. We feature comprehensive diagnostic, medical, and surgical services. These services include cardiovascular surgery and cancer treatment. These services include intensive care, orthopedic and spine surgery, and rehabilitation. The facility includes a state of the art neurosurgery program. Patients also have access to OB-GYN services. Patients have access to a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. They also have access to (NICU) and behavioral health treatment centers for children and adults.
