Job Title: Shop Helper

Job Description

The Grinder/Floater is responsible for grinding, deburring, and finishing metal parts to meet quality standards while supporting a variety of production areas as needed. This role includes racking parts, cleaning and wiping down components for final processing, performing visual quality inspections, and assisting with material handling to maintain an efficient workflow throughout the manufacturing process. The ideal candidate pays close attention to detail, follows safety procedures diligently, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Grind, deburr, and finish metal parts according to production specifications and quality standards.

  • Rack and stage parts for coating, painting, or other finishing processes to ensure proper handling and throughput.

  • Clean and wipe down parts to prepare them for final processing and shipment.

  • Perform visual inspections of parts to verify that quality standards and customer requirements are met.

  • Assist in multiple production areas as needed to support workflow and meet production deadlines.

  • Handle materials and components safely to support fabrication and finishing operations.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in the shop.

  • Follow all company safety, quality, and operational procedures consistently.

  • Support general shop helper tasks, such as organizing materials, assisting with basic setup, and helping with equipment as directed.

Essential Skills

  • Grinding and deburring experience working with metal parts.

  • Ability to perform consistent, high-quality finishing work on fabricated components.

  • Comfort working in a fast-paced production and fabrication environment.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to established procedures.

  • Attention to detail when inspecting parts and preparing them for final processing.

  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following safety guidelines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a production or manufacturing setting.

  • Familiarity with racking parts for coating, painting, or other finishing processes.

  • Experience wiping parts down and preparing them for final processing.

  • Shop helper or in general shop support roles.

  • Ability to read drawings or blueprints to understand part requirements and specifications.

  • Exposure to basic tools such as drills and saws in a fabrication or woodworking environment.

  • Comfort working around woodworking and metalworking equipment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing shop environment that supports the production of items such as park benches, playground equipment, fitness equipment, slides, trash cans, and similar products for clients nationwide. The shop is open to the elements, which means it can be cold in the winter and hot in the summer, and candidates should be comfortable working in these conditions. The environment is hands-on, active, and production-focused, with standard fabrication and finishing equipment in use throughout the facility

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vancouver, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
