Full job description
Opportunity Summary:
Served on the HIM Team to help with management of patient data; small projects regarding retention and destruction according to policy; limited and minimal access to software to assign admission numbers on loose filing, deadlines with work as appropriate or delegated. This is a referred placement opportunity intended for HIM Intern directly referred to apply by a college or university representative.
Opportunity Time Frame:
Internship will begin in September 2025. Student must commit to at least 2 months; entire semester or year preferred. Student must commit to work at least 3 times per week; every day preferred.
Eligibility Requirements:

Academically sound and in good standing

Must be enrolled in an accredited HIM program

Able to meet minimum time requirements (minimum 3 times per week for at least 2 months)
Learning Model:

Visual instruction and mentor/lead training
-
Basic HIM document management
-
Introduction to policies on file as they pertain to our work in HIM
-
Assisting with retention and destruction projects per protocol and with employed staff oversight
Student Expectations:
A wider understanding of a working HIM environment complete with release of information, document management, digital systems, Master patient index, filing, storage, workflows, deadlines, individual tasks as well as group/team projects
