SAC Program Director | Shoreview YMCA | $54,000 - $58,000 Annually

As a School Age Childcare Program Director, you'll oversee program operations, supervise staff, support youth development, and create safe, enriching experiences that bring the YMCA's core values to life for children and families.

Schedule:

  • Full-Time

  • Schedule varies based on program and school needs

  • May include before-school, after-school, and school release day programming

  • Local travel to program sites and YMCA locations as needed

Pay:The salary range for this position is $54,000 to $58,000 annually. We take into consideration an individual’s background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of other benefits and earned time off that vary depending on part-time or full-time status.

  1. Job Summary:The School Age Child Care Program Director is responsible for managing sites/programs and assist the Executive Director with the operations of YMCA SAC programs. Ensure quality experiences for children that focus on the YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. Serve as part of the branch leadership team and directly supervise childcare staff. Nurture the potential of all children that they serve.

  2. Essential Functions:

  • Manage sites and programs, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of the program curriculum and activities.

  • Recruit, hire, develop and supervise staff teams.

  • Practice continuous quality improvement, evaluating programs and implementing changes as needed for the site and the Y of the North.

  • Ensure administrative tasks related to site/program operations are completed.

  • Assist Executive Director in reaching enrollment and revenue goals.

  • Manage department budget in compliance with Y of the North best practices.

  • Maintain CACFP and Minnesota Department of Health Licensing for meals and snacks, if applicable.

  • Adhere to all State of MN certification policies and follow MN state law for School age care rules and guidelines regarding certification requirements.

  • Work hands-on to meet ratio requirements.

  1. Relationships:This position reports to the Child Care Executive Director and to the School Age Child Care Director (North Community reports to the Associate Executive Director). The incumbent interacts with participants, parents, staff, school employees, and the community. The incumbent will have regular contact with children and parents of diverse backgrounds.

  2. Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum age of 21.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in education or recreation; demonstrated experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with and leading youth programs.

  • Minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience.

  • Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills.

  • Adult and child CPR or CPR/PR, First Aid, and AED Certifications or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire date.

  • Commitment to working with school age children in a recreational setting and a sincere desire to have a meaningful effect on their lives.

  • Basic skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred:

  • Education or experience in child development, child guidance, human relations, communication, or recreational programs.

  • Bi/multilingual.

  1. Work Conditions:
  • Ability to actively participate in youth games/activities which include getting in the water during swimming.

  • Ability to travel locally to YMCA branches and other program sites.

  • Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including moving around, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time.

  • Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in hazardous/dangerous situations.

  • Ability to remain alert in warm to hot environment for prolonged period which may include indoor pool, outdoor activities, bus rides, etc.
