Exciting Career Opportunity!

Common Ground is seeking a Community Outreach Specialist to be a part of the Common Ground Rochester Hills Resiliency Center (RHRC) program.

Current Opening: Full-Time, 40 hours/week

Compensation: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour

About You

The Community Outreach Specialist supports the mission of the Rochester Hills Resiliency Center (RHRC) by fostering strong relationships between the center and the impacted community it serves. The role is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating outreach initiatives designed to engage individuals, families, and community organizations in need of support in the aftermath of the mass violence event. Promote awareness of the center’s services through strategic marketing, developing partnerships with stakeholders, and organizing educational events and support activities that enhance resilience and recovery. The Community Outreach Specialist will be responsible for the coordination of the volunteers for the resiliency center.

Day in the Life

  • Develop and implement community outreach strategies to increase visibility and utilization of the center's services

  • Build and maintain partnerships with local organizations, faith-based groups, schools, first responders, healthcare providers, and government agencies

  • Serve as a liaison between the Resiliency Center and the broader community to ensure services are accessible and responsive to local needs

  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate educational workshops, community advisory strategic planning group, resource fairs, support groups, and other community-centered events

  • Develop outreach materials such as brochures, psychoeducation, newsletters, and social media posts to promote center services and events

  • Manage digital communications and social media presence to increase community awareness and participation

  • Conduct community surveys, focus groups, or informal interviews to gather input and assess local needs

  • Collaborate with the resiliency center team to build and adapt programs based on input received from people served

What you need to apply

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in victim services or crisis intervention/mental health services

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
