Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Responds to and investigates emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service. Collects and preserves evidence, conducts short-term investigations on criminal cases and analyze facts to identify suspects and develops case information for use in pressing charges and bringing suspect to trial. Performs required lifesaving first aid in the event of an emergency as the first responder to an incident until medical emergency personnel arrive. Conducts traffic LE patrol using specialized equipment such as radar, Lidar and breathalyzer. Conducts investigative stops, questions, detains, and issues traffic citations as required. Performs protection duties to deter, detect, and deny unauthorized access at fixed installation, internal compound, and incident perimeter posts. Operates the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminal in accordance with federal and state laws to transcribe data. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience at the GS-06 level: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Maintaining order and protecting life; 2) Responding to citizens in emergency/non-emergency situations; and 3) Protecting property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Specialized Experience at the GS-07 level: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Preventing, detecting and/or investigating crimes; (2) Protect property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; (3) Perform access control and patrol duties to detect and prevent theft, damage, accident, trespass, sabotage and espionage and to enforce the security regulations of the installation; and (4) Maintains records and prepare reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. In addition to the qualification above, to qualify for/progress to the GS-7 level you will need the following certifications: Successful completion of the US Army Civilian Police Academy and Field Officer Training Program. NOTE: All certifications must be submitted with application. This position is designated "Mission Essential." In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations. In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Emergency-Essential". Emergency-Essential designation takes precedence over any transportation agreement or military recall status. In the event of a crisis situation or wartime, the incumbent must continue to perform the duties and requirements of the position to ensure the success of combat operations or to support combat essential systems subsequent to mobilization or an evacuation order. This position is designated as Key. The position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the mission. Additional training, medical requirements such as a medical examination and/or immunizations, and deployment responsibilities may apply to this position. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.
