Embedded Software Engineer

Greenville, SC OR Melbourne, FL | Full-Time | Onsite | 9/80 Schedule

Join a growing engineering team developing mission-critical embedded systems for advanced defense and aerospace applications. This role offers hands-on involvement throughout the entire product lifecycle, including software architecture, embedded C development, hardware integration, testing, and system validation.

You'll work directly with embedded processors, real-time systems, custom hardware, and electronic test equipment while collaborating closely with electrical, FPGA, and systems engineers to deliver reliable, high-performance solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and debug embedded software using C and Python

  • Develop software for embedded Linux, RTOS, and bare-metal environments

  • Integrate software with custom electronic hardware and microcontroller-based systems

  • Perform hardware/software integration, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis

  • Create and execute test plans, automated test scripts, and validation procedures

  • Develop device drivers and communication interfaces including UART, SPI, I2C, and Ethernet

  • Participate in software architecture reviews, design reviews, and code reviews

  • Support CI/CD pipelines and automated testing environments

  • Collaborate with hardware, systems, and test engineers to deliver robust solutions

  • Support customer demonstrations, technical presentations, and proposal activities

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

  • 3+ years of embedded software development experience

  • Strong C programming experience

  • Working knowledge of Python

  • Experience with embedded Linux, RTOS, or bare-metal systems

  • Experience integrating software with hardware platforms

  • Experience debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and laboratory test equipment

  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Melbourne, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $80.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
