Application Support Specialist – Compliance Technology (SAS Viya / AML)

Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid / Onsite)

Position Type: Full-Time Permanent / Direct Hire

Salary Range: $75,000 – $95,000 / year (commensurate with experience) + Benefits

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a detail-oriented Application Support Specialist to join an enterprise Compliance Technology team supporting critical Anti-Money Laundering (AML) systems in Chicago, IL .

In this role, you will serve as the primary application support resource for the bank’s core compliance platforms—specifically SAS Viya —ensuring continuous system availability, performance optimization, incident resolution, and smooth data flow across AML and financial crime monitoring workflows.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Application Support & Maintenance: Provide L2/L3 application support for central Compliance Technology platforms, focusing on the SAS Viya Anti-Money Laundering (AML) system.

  • Database & Query Management: Write, optimize, and execute complex SQL queries to troubleshoot data flow issues, research system exceptions, validate transactions, and perform database maintenance.

  • Incident & Problem Management: Triage, investigate, and resolve application bugs, performance bottlenecks, and system outages within established SLA targets.

  • System Integration & Monitoring: Monitor daily batch processes, data ingestion pipelines, and job schedules supporting AML transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and regulatory reporting.

  • Stakeholder & Vendor Collaboration: Partner closely with Compliance business users, Data Engineering, Infrastructure teams, and software vendors to coordinate application updates, patches, and feature releases.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • SQL Expertise: Strong SQL capabilities (writing complex queries, joins, subqueries, performance tuning, and data validation across relational databases like Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL).

  • Application Support Experience: 3+ years of technical application support or system administration experience in a corporate or financial services environment.

  • Compliance / AML Platform Exposure: Direct exposure to or hands-on experience supporting SAS Viya or related SAS/AML compliance tools (e.g., SAS Financial Crimes, Actimize, Mantas) is strongly preferred.

  • Domain Knowledge: Basic understanding of Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), or financial crime compliance workflows.

  • Problem-Solving & Communication: Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex technical issues to compliance business partners and senior management.
