Full job description

Job DescriptionJob Description Are You Ready to Lead, Innovate, and Solve Complex Challenges? We’re looking for an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer who thrives on complexity and creativity. This is not a cookie-cutter design role—our clients often bring us problems, not blueprints. Your mission? Investigate, innovate, and implement solutions that work in the real world. From concept to construction, you’ll take full ownership of projects, ensuring designs are practical, efficient, and buildable. Most projects involve renovations in mission-critical environments, where precision and problem-solving skills make all the difference. If you want engaging projects, direct client impact, and a company that values doing things right the first time, this role is for you. What You’ll Do

  • Lead electrical system design for new builds and renovations

  • Act as assistant project manager, managing schedules, budgets, and deliverables

  • Conduct field investigations, code reviews, and site surveys

  • Mentor junior engineers and coordinate multidisciplinary teams

  • Build client relationships and help maintain our 95% referral rate

Qualifications What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related)

  • 10–20 years of experience in power distribution, lighting, and controls

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required

  • Strong skills in AutoCAD or Revit, AGI32, SKM or Easypower

  • Proven leadership and communication skills

  • Fieldwork experience, including the ability to handle site conditions

Bonus Points For:

  • MV (Medium-Voltage) distribution experience

  • RCDD certification

  • Federal sector experience (UFC, UFGS, FAR)

  • Existing client relationships in NC/SC, Mid-Atlantic, or South-Central U.S.

  • Knowledge of higher education and NC State Construction Office systems

Must Have: U.S. Citizenship (due to government project access) Why is This a Great Opportunity Why You’ll Love This Role

  • Impactful work: Be part of challenging projects across federal, educational, and mission-critical sectors

  • Small-firm culture + big opportunities: Direct access to leadership, decision-making, and business development

  • Work-life balance: Hybrid work options and generous PTO

  • See history from the inside: Work on iconic and high-profile facilities

Perks & Benefits

  • 100% employer-paid health insurance (individual coverage) + HSA/PPO options

  • 50% contribution toward family health coverage

  • Dental and vision insurance

  • 401(k): 3% automatic contribution + additional match

  • Company-paid disability and life insurance

  • 33 days off annually (11 holidays + 22 PTO)

  • Education assistance program

  • Hybrid work flexibility

Ready to Join a Team That Solves Problems—Not Just Designs Around Them? If you’re a results-driven engineer ready to lead impactful projects, apply today and help us shape the future of building systems.
