Full job description

Our client, Facilities Management is seeking a Operating Engineer to join their team. As a Operating Engineer, you will be part of the Facilities Operations team supporting day-to-day building performance across assigned properties. The ideal candidate will have hands-on technical maintenance experience, a strong commitment to safety and compliance, and the ability to use CMMS tools to keep systems running reliably.

Location: 214 N Tryon St, Charlotte, NC 28202

Pay Range: $30 to $32/hr

What's the Job?

  • Perform hands-on maintenance, monitoring, and minor repairs to Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems to keep facilities operating at applicable standards

  • Conduct preventive maintenance on building equipment, including cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and changing parts to maintain HVAC systems and associated equipment at optimum performance levels

  • Record equipment readings and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper operation of building systems throughout assigned properties

  • Review monthly client service request summaries to identify and address recurrent operational problems proactively

  • Monitor and evaluate the quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors and vendors to ensure competitive value

What's Needed?

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the building maintenance industry

  • Working knowledge and proficiency with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)

  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, diagrams, and schedules in various formats

  • Ability to work in less-than-ideal working conditions as required by maintenance and repair activities

  • Work schedule Monday–Friday with shift options: 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

  • On-call availability on a 7-day rotation once every 7 weeks, including weekends
